We just got back from the clinic to find that Kate's counts weren't high enough to begin the Maintenance phase of treatment. Her ANC was only 330 but the monocytes were a lot higher at 26 indicating that her bone marrow is really starting to work. Translation, we are delayed beginning her phase until next Thursday (pending an ANC above 750).
I did learn that if we can begin Maintenance next week then July 4th, 2009 will be her last day of chemotherapy. That will give "Independence Day" a whole new meaning for us! It makes me tear up just to type that.

We are all hoping for the best! That definitely would make July 4th that much more meaningful. We love you Kate!
As always, you guys are in my thoughts !!
Hey, the whole country will be celebrating for Kate :). We love you! Your smile makes the room you are in brighter to me. Love you Kate!!
Jenny
we will have the red, white and bluest party ever!
BRING IT ON! We can get celebrations going worldwide! I'll do a BILLBOARD FOR THE MONTH!
(do you think I'm kidding?)
It's on our calendar -- July 4, 2009! Celebration! Woo-Hoo! Hummm, I wonder who will be appearing at the Stadium of Fire. Doesn't matter, "nothing nor nobody" could be better or more important than Kate's own personal triumph. It's her special day! Independence -- how many of us really appreciate that word?
Your slide shows are always so fun. The pink BYU hoodie shot caught me off guard. It is the same one Izzy has and uses to keep her head warm--just like Kate! It is amazing how similar our lives are through this. Hang in there. The Independence Day thought got me too. Loves, Kerri and Izzy
Seriously brings on the goosebumps when you write it out like that! Here's to Kate's TRUE Independence Day in 2009 :)
Still chanting....
HIGH COUNTS
HIGH COUNTS
HIGH COUNTS
:)
Kate, you ROCK!!! You are such a little champ...I wish I could reach out and hug you :)
We're right with you guys--we think Izzy's ANC will finally be up to 750 by Tuesday...kicking maintenance off real with a spinal tap and steroids--YEEHAW!! Way to go Kate and Family!
Hi, Carolyn - just saw that you made your $5,000 goal - that's fantastic! Don't worry about the marathon - you are going to do great. It sounds like you are exactly where you need to be training-wise. It'll be hard, but so much fun and such a great experience! Take Care - Crystal
